can be quite an experience when you’re lounging in your own
private plunge pool.
A remote and romantic camp Kapamba
is situated in a prime location on the Kapamba River, and
the only bushcamp to be open from May to January.
Each of the camp’s four chalets is individually designed to offer stunning views of the river. The open-fronted style ensures that you can enjoy uninterrupted game viewing from the privacy of your own room.
The en-suite bathrooms each has a double-sized sunken stone bath and spacious shower and are open-fronted, so why not unwind in a hot tub while watching the hippos in the river below. Overlooking the Kapamba River , the deck offers an ideal viewing point for the abundant wildlife that comes to drink at the river.

National park, Bushcamp Company’s new walking camp,
Zungulila , afford guests the rare opportunity to explore
Africa as it used to be. Safari activities will be conducted
on foot in order to preserve the integrity of this unspoilt
section of wilderness.
Exploring this pristine region on
foot harkens back to the exploratory days of Africa creating
a truly authentic bush experience for walkers.
The exploratory route that guests will travel takes
walkers along the Kapamba River through the some of the most
untamed sections of the bush.
All game activities are
limited to walking and no night drives are available. While
remote, Zungulila boast all the comforts of home, including
ensuite facilities and sweeping views of game from private
verandas.
Zungulila is a spacious tented camp situated on a raised
knoll overlooking an expansive plain. The plain contains a
year round natural spring which cuts large pools through the
landscape, and to the left of the camp is a sweeping view of

The next morning, road transfer or walk to Kapamba Bush Camp. Game Walks and Game drives at Kapamba Bush Camp
Days 4 and 5
Walk or do a road transfer to Bilimungwe Camp. Warm and welcoming, this beautiful camp blends seamlessly with its surroundings and offers unrivalled wildlife viewings. It's hard not to be seduced by the charm of Bilimungwe!
Here, the traditions of the African bushcamp meet elegance and style to create a stunning camp that feels like it has grown organically out of the surrounding landscape. Set beneath a huge mahogany tree, the heart of Bilimungwe is the cool, shady lounge area that looks out over one of the camps three waterholes. Settle down in a cosy armchair with a sundowner and relax as you watch an enviable display of spectacular birds and animals that clearly feel as comfortable here as you do.
With the open waters of the Luangwa River also on your doorstep and a nearby plain where leopard prowl, it's clear that this is a nature-lovers paradise, and with Manda Chisanga - Bilimungwe's award-winning resident guide - to lead you, you could not be in better hands. (In the event that Manda is not available, another guide from The Bushcamp Company's excellent and experienced team will be on hand).
Bilimungwe's four raised thatched rooms have been
carefully designed to ensure the height of comfort whilst
still retaining that authentic bushcamp feel. The tangle of
mature mahogany trees that surround camp are echoed in the
rich, wood interiors and the beautiful wooden furniture,
handmade by local artisans. Bright African textiles bring
splashes of colour to the elegant rooms. After an early
morning game drive, head back to your room for a refreshing,
open-air waterfall shower, or continue the wildlife
spectacle from your private deck. Two of the chalets have
twin beds (queen-sized beds), while the other two each have
a king bed. Bilimungwe sleeps up to eight guests and is open
from May to December.
Take advantage of the
exceptional knowledge and charm of resident guide Manda
Chisanga, and head out with him on a combination of walking
safaris, day and night game drives, and sundowners on the
river's edge. In between outings, find a chair and enjoy the
wildlife magnets that are Bilimungwes three permanent
waterholes. Who needs satellite television when you have
your very own 'Bush TV' to entertain you?
Days 6, 7 and 8
The highlight of your safari! Transfer to our flagship camp - Chamilandu!
A breathtaking camp on one of the South Luangwa's prime river locations, perfect for a bird's-eye view of the wildlife that the river and its lagoons attract. There's nothing quite like waking up at Chamilandu. Early morning views don't get much better than the rippling waters of the Luangwa River, the gentle rise of the Chindeni Hills and a vast African sky - especially when you're lying in a four poster bed in a handsome stilted tree-house.
You don't even need to leave your bed to see the wildlife - from your unique vantage point you can watch as animals roam across the landscape, or swing through the trees above your head.
There are just three stilted chalets at this exclusive camp, set on the riverbank beneath a soaring ebony grove. Enjoy a sundowner from the comfort of the thatched bar and dining area, as you watch the wildlife do the same at the river. Exceptional game viewing and understated elegance make Chamilandu a place to remember.
Chamilandu's three exquisite tree-houses perch right on
the edge of the Luangwa River. Each has its own raised
veranda to loll on during the heat of the day, and an
open-fronted en-suite bathroom with the same magnificent
views over the tranquil waters. Two of the tree-houses have
twin beds (queen-sized beds) and one has a double
(king-sized bed). With capacity for just six guests, this is
the perfect camp for small groups. Chamilandu is open from
June to November.
Walking safaris and game drives
around Chamilandu explore the impressive range of habitats
in the area. With no fewer than seven oxbow lagoons behind
camp, there are always thirsty animals around seeking
refreshment. Our hide looks out over one of these lagoons
and is the perfect place to take lunch, tea or to while away
an afternoon in a hammock to the soundtrack of bathing
elephant.
