Kilimanjaro and its elephant population - over 1,000 elephant in the Park eco- system, which are some of the biggest elephant in Africa. It is also home to herds of Zebra and Wildebeest and their predators, as well as more than 300 species of birds.
Tortilis Camp is named after the local Acacia Tortilis tree, and is situated just outside the Park in one of Amboseli's few remaining areas of unspoiled Woodland, with the stunning back-drop of Africa's highest Mountain – Mt Kilimanjaro.
Morning and afternoon game viewing, walking safaris with a Masai guide, hill top sundowners, bush breakfasts, lunches and dinners, swimming pool. During the day, you can take game drives with one of our guides in an open 4WD vehicle, or go for a guided walk outside the Park with one of our expert Masai guides, and end the day with a sundowner on a hill where you can see miles across the Park and feel like you are on the Top of the World!
Tortilis is renowned for its delicious home style Italian cuisine. Fresh herbs and vegetables are grown in camp and homemade pasta, the specialty, is carefully prepared each day by the well-trained chef! Imagine sitting in the privacy of your verandah in the shade of a picturesque Acacia Tortilis tree (the camp's namesake), sipping your favorite drink and looking out over the majesty of Mount Kilimanjaro.
If you surveyed the plains in front of you carefully, you might see several species of antelope, vervet monkeys, a colorful array of bird life, or one of Amboseli's famous huge bull elephants- maybe even a Masai or two making their way on foot as they have since time began.

Comments from our guests:
"We found the camp a truly magical spot, beautifully
appointed and could not recommend it more highly. The food,
service and ambiance were excellent.... The staff too, made
a great impression." Colonel & Mrs. M.H. White- Edinburgh,
Scotland
"My husband and I were very impressed with your
camp, the beautiful surroundings, the way it is built. We
had a very nice time, your crew was especially attentive and
gracious." Anne Manschot- Ontario, Canada
"I especially wanted to tell you that we were very impressed with Tortilis Camp.... The setting, decor, and small size of the Tortilis Camp was outstanding. Also their staff was fantastic from the tent stewards to the game drivers. I wanted to let you know how impressed we were so you can recommend more people to stay there. Having also seen the other large lodges in the park, there is no question that Tortilis Camp has the best location and offers a more peaceful and fulfilling stay whether the visitor is a biologist and conservation professional (like myself) or seeing Kenya for the first time (like my husband)." Darwin Bolze- N.Y., USA

DAY 07
Morning and afternoon shared game drives in Samburu game reserve, Overnight Samburu Intrepids Camp Fullboard
There’s always excitement in the Samburu, dawn as the animals wake, midday and the shimmering heat, or dusk, perfect for hunting: a pride of lion stalking zebra, a herd of elephant heading for the swamps, cheetah cubs playing in the shade. Sights you won’t forget. Our four-wheel-drive vehicles are built to our own specifications. Cut-away roofs give you better views. Our professional drivers will astonish you with what they find: a tell-tale vulture will lead them to a hyena kill, a warning cry from a mother wildebeest reveals a leopard stalking through the grass.
DAY 08
After breakfast transfer to Lewa airstrip for Air Kenya scheduled flight to Masai Mara dep 1005hrs, arrive 1130hrs (flight booked by Pollman’s Tours). On arrival met by camp vehicle and transfer to camp for lunch, afternoon shared game drive using camp vehicle, overnight Main Governors Camp Fullboard.
The setting is magical. So much so that almost a century ago it was reserved, exclusively, for Kenya’s colonial Governors.
Governors’ Camp nestles in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, it’s waters teeming with bird-life, hippo and crocodile. Some of the 37 tents line the riverbank, with uninterrupted views over the Mara River others have views across the sweeping plains. Created in 1972 Governors’ Camp set new standards in luxury for a tented camp. Today it’s still Africa’s best. Everything is under canvas, all tents have en-suit bathrooms with hot and cold running water and flushing toilets.
DAY 09
Morning and afternoon shared game drives in Masai Mara using camp vehicle, overnight Main Governors Camp Fullboard
The entire camp is under canvas with all of the comforts of a luxury hotel. All of the guest tents at Governors' Camp have recently been renovated and upgrade. Our guest tents are now much bigger, lighter and brighter with new beige tents, new larger bathrooms and extended verandahs.
The camp is looking stunning. Some of the tents have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara, others look over the banks of the meandering Mara River. All tents are classic safari style each with en-suite bathrooms and a private verandah.
DAY 10
Morning and afternoon shared game drives in Masai Mara using camp vehicle, overnight Main Governors Camp Fullboard
There’s always excitement in the Mara, dawn as the animals wake, midday and the shimmering heat, or dusk, perfect for hunting: a pride of lion stalking zebra, a herd of elephant heading for the swamps, cheetah cubs playing in the shade. Sights you won’t forget. Our professional drivers will astonish you with what they find: a tell-tale vulture will lead them to a hyena kill, a warning cry from a mother wildebeest reveals a leopard stalking through the grass.
Our four-wheel-drive vehicles are built to our own
specifications. Cut-away roofs give you better views. Leave
your vehicle behind and take a walking safari with one of
our armed-guides for the true thrill of the bush. Down on
the same level as the animals you’ll experience the untamed
beauty of the Mara. You’ll track game, unsure what waits
round the next corner, giraffe, buffalo, even lion. You’ll
catch the scents and sounds of wild Africa. And at the end
of it all waits a sumptuous bush barbecue complete with
champagne. Surrounding the Mara are the lands of the Masai
tribe, a tall, proud race of warriors. Herding cattle and
goats, they’ve lived among the animals for centuries. We’ll
take you to Masai villages to see a way of life that’s
survived almost unchanged for generations.
Mara Balloon Safaris:
The adventure begins just before dawn. Flames from the balloon burners light the darkness as the crews inflate their craft. The first, pink tongues of sunlight flicker across the skies and the balloon fills then rises. Suspended in a basket beneath the rainbow-colored canopy, you’re off for a game-viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective. The thing that amazes most first-time balloonists is the absolute stillness, the silence as you float above the plains, the forest and the rivers of the Masai Mara . And if you’ve flown elsewhere, you’ve seen nothing like this. The sounds below drift clearly upwards: a lion’s roar, elephants crashing through the bush, baboons perched in the tips of the trees startled and screeching to see something above them.
For an hour or so you drift wherever the air currents take you. If you’re lucky you’ll climb high above the Mara for the view of a lifetime. Then your balloon safari finishes with a flourish. In the time honored tradition of balloon flights the world over you toast your return to earth with a champagne breakfast. The difference this breakfast happens in the bush, wherever you land, and it’s cooked before your eyes on the burners that minutes before kept you suspended in the air. Mara Balloon Safaris pioneered game-viewing by hot-air balloon in Africa. Today we operate from Governors’ Camps . We have some of the world’s most experienced pilots flying some of the world’s largest balloons. And our distinctive colors are known the world-over!
