Muchenje Safari Lodge (Chobe National Park) Botswana
Location:
Bordering the Chobe National Park, Muchenje Safari Lodge is set on an escarpment edge, and has been designed to take full advantage of the breathtaking views over the Caprivi Strip.
Muchenje Safari Lodge is located in the Forrest Reserve, 3 km. from the Chobe National Park, and under 2 hours drive from Victoria Falls. The camp lies on the Chobe River, just above its confluence with the Zambezi. (Muchenje is a 45 minute drive from Kasane)
This is the only private lodge in this area, and as such is spoiled with sole use of this section of the Chobe National Park. Unique prolific game experiences are to be found without the masses and commercialism that inhibit lodges around Kasane.
Chobe is famous for its large elephant and buffalo herds, has vegetation that ranges from the dense riverine and grass floodplains of the north to teak forests and mopane woodlands, with scattered pans and waterholes in the south.
Accommodation:
Muchenje accommodates only twenty guests in intimate exclusivity. The 10 twin-bedded thatched chalets, all with ensuite facilities, are sited on the escarpment edge all with their own balcony and unique view.
Each chalet is exquisitely furnished and great care has been taken to create a true African ambience.
Facilities:
The main thatched lodge includes a dining area, lunge, bar and reception, shop and game viewing platform overlooking the waterhole.
The lodge's swimming pool, built amongst natural rock formations, takes full advantage of the African vista and provides a tranquil setting for guests to relax during the heat of the day.
Muchenje prides itself on the quality of its staff and the personalized, friendly attention that the discerning traveler requires.
Meals are served Table D'Bush, well presented and plentiful, in a relaxed atmosphere. Impromptu buss BBQ and Traditional Dancing by our staff of the Subiya Tribe. Theme dinners, vegetarians and special meal requests are catered for.
Generator power (220 volt) is available during the day and evening. Hairdryers are available and video camera batteries can be recharged in your room.

New :- Boat Activity - This is an additional activity and will not take the place of our full day excursion and boat trip on the Eastern side of the park, however, it will give our guests an additional option to get onto the river. The new jetty is just upstream from the Ihaha campsite and takes about an hour to get to from the lodge. Depending on the water levels we enjoy half day activities from the jetty with bush breakfasts and other great Muchenje Magic Moments.
