Larsens Camp (Samburu / Shaba Game Reserve) Kenya
Location:
Larsen's Camp is located in Kenya’s famous Samburu National Reserve is named after Erik Ole Larsen, a legendary Dane credited with defining the luxury safari under canvas. The camp is bordered by the Uaso Nyiro River on one side; there is nothing to see but pristine nature on the other three.
With just 20 tented accommodations, our all inclusive adventures offer distinct luxury African safari experiences.
Accommodation:
There are 20 free standing luxurious tented accommodations each with a private balcony.
All tents are discreetly sited along the west bank of the Uaso Nyiro River with the result that the tents are bathed with light at sunrise.
Each tent stands on a plinth of natural stone and all have en suite private bathrooms stocked with a range of Molton Brown toiletries, flushing toilets, constant hot water and 24 hour electricity (240 volts).
Each tent features 1 king or 2 twin beds designed in chic safari style.
Dining:
Larsen's serves an exquisite a la carte menu for all three meals. Snacks can be requested 24 hrs a day.
Guests share their Dining experiences in locations that may vary from day to day. Breakfast, lunch or dinner may be served on the river bank under a canopy of fig trees, on the river front deck, by the camp fire, on the tree deck over looking a watering hole or in the untamed wilderness.
Sundowners are served every evening by the camp fire or on the tree deck. Guests can have their pick of cocktails, fine wines, sparkling wines and a variety of beers and soft drinks served at the Larsen's Bar.
For your excursions, picnic baskets are served in true safari style complete with folding camp table and stools.
Wildlife / Activities:
Larsen's operates a fleet of custom-built four-wheel drive vehicles with roof hatches designed for game viewing in comfort and safety. Places for game drives may be in booked in advance or on arrival at the Lodge. Our driver / guides take pride in their intimate knowledge of the reserve, its flora and the wildlife that inhabits it. Guides are qualified by the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association (KPSGA) and hardly ever are they ‘stumped’ by a question put by a guest.
Bird walks
These are taken in the nearby ‘bush’ outside the camp every day with the resident naturalist.
Champagne breakfast:
Food always seems to taste doubly delicious when consumed al fresco, never more so following an energetic walk to a private location on the river bank to await a full English breakfast prepared by our uniformed chefs.
Sunset cocktails:
Cocktails, other drinks and delicious canapés can be served on the river bank or atop an adjacent hill while watching a spectacular African sunset.
Gala Dinner:
This affair is a fitting way to mark a special occasion, anniversary birthday or simply to put across that special message to someone nearest and dearest.
