Gorah Elephant Camp, a premier camp set in a 5,000-ha
malaria-free sanctuary, is home to the densest elephant
population on earth.
Gorah Elephant Camp lies within the Addo Elephant National Park, and is about an hour's drive northeast of Port Elizabeth on South Africa's southern coast.
Accommodation
Raised wooden walkways lead to 11 spacious luxurious tented suites with charming en-suite bathrooms.
Each luxury tent has an en-suite bathroom with shower, an interior relaxation area and a private deck offering panoramic views across the endless savannah plains.
The rooms, lounge area and the private deck have views of the grasslands which characterize the Eastern Cape landscape which is often peppered with game. There are solar-powered ceiling fans and in-house communication between the tents and the Main House.
Facilities
In the evenings guests gather in the plush and welcoming lounge for an aperitif before dinner. The camps head chef prepares world-class dishes, which are paired with some of South Africa's finest wines from Gorah's extensive collection.
The dining room is intimate, romantic and elegantly furnished; softly lit by candles and candelabra.
A vast antique table groans under a lavish and memorable breakfast spread, which can be enjoyed on a peaceful terrace facing the waterhole.
Activities / Wildlife
Knowledgeable, experienced game rangers conduct day and night game drives through the Addo Elephant National Park, sharing their vast knowledge of the Eastern Cape's plants, insects, birds and animals.
Keep a lookout for the Eastern Cape's remarkable endangered flightless dung beetle. Sightings of elephant are a near certainty and numbers of herds have boomed boasting the highest density of elephants on earth.
Expect to also see lion, buffalo, black rhino, tsessebe, warthog and other big game.
