Honeymoon suite
The Manyeleti honeymoon suite provides for romantic elegance and the setting ensures privacy with a stunning view. This glass fronted suite has all the regular luxuries and also boasts a private splash pool and sala, ideal for a mid-morning nap.
Luxury rooms
The natural design and architecture of these six glass-fronted suites fall softly on the eye. Decorated in warm, earthy tones, they blend in superbly with their natural surroundings.
All luxury chalets feature air-conditioning, overhead fans, fireplaces, mini bars, tea/coffee facilities, mosquito nets and electronic safes.
These exclusive open-plan suites each have a lounge, double bedroom, en suite bathroom (inside/outside shower) and a private viewing deck that offers spectacular views over the riverbed.
Rondavels
The five rondavels are set in the beautifully landscaped garden of the original family holiday camp and one can still feel the old bushveld charm upon entering. The rondavels have sundecks, en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, overhead fans, mini bars, tea/coffee facilities, mosquito nets and electronic safes.
The five rondavels have been renovated and redecorated to pay tribute to oupa Dries and ouma Anna Steyn, without whom Elephant Plains would not have existed.
African Health Spa
The African Health Spa is just the place to go if you have the need to relax and unwind, or just feel like spoiling yourself. A wide variety of treatments are available to rejuvenate mind, body and soul while enjoying an awe inspiring view of the plain in front of the lodge.
The signature treatment for the month of October is our unique Deep Tissue Massage. This massage is an intense, medium to strong massage. The therapist uses palm pressure and firm strokes to stimulate blood circulation, improve energy flow and to release tension.
"Thera Naka" body oil consists of a combination of lavender, sweet orange and jasmine. The oil penetrates the skin, working the natural herbs throughout your body to relax and uplift you. Come and experience this hour long full body massage and let your body connect with your soul! The Elephant Plains Gym is equipped with a treadmill, stationary bike, rowing machine, multi gym as well as free weights.
Game Drives
Your experienced game ranger and local Shangaan tracker are keen to share their extensive knowledge and love of the African bush with you. There are two game drives per day in open top Landrovers. Each drive lasts about three hours with an intermediate break.
During the morning game drive break you will enjoy coffee and rusks and in the afternoon your ranger will find a suitable spot where you can enjoy the stunning views, while enjoying a sundowner. After sundowners your tracker will use the spotlight to find nocturnal animals before returning to the lodge for dinner. Your ranger will discuss the various game drive regulations before you leave camp.
During game drive you will note that the rangers sometimes drive off of the road and into the bush. We do, however, work in accordance to guidelines set out by Sabi Sand ecologist, Jonathan Swart. We only allow off-roading in certain areas and with special precautions. The rangers do not drive over sensitive areas, will only drive over small trees if they are encroachment species and if necessary, they will do brush packing afterwards to limit the impact on the environment.
Bush Walks
During bush walk you will have the opportunity to take a closer look at animal tracks, birds, different types of grasses and trees, as well as any smaller details of the bush that might fascinate you.
The daily bush walk takes place after breakfast. Your
ranger will confirm the time with you during breakfast.
Please take note that you will be accompanied by either your
ranger or tracker.
