Stanley Safari Lodge (Livingstone) Zambia

Location:

Stanley Safari lodge is situated on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River, upstream from Victoria Falls. It faces westward into the sunset and onto the Zambezi National Park on the opposite side of the river. Stanley Safari lodge is set among the lush riverine vegetation and the camp has a distinct colonial flavor. Guests here can enjoy the sights and sounds of Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River in a peaceful and tranquil setting away from the crowds.

tanley Safari Lodge is the exclusive oasis for the new explorers of the Victoria Falls. With only 10 private cottages it is able to give you an unmatched level of entirely personalized service. Bordering the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, with a view over the spray of the Victoria Falls in a distance, the exclusive Stanley Safari Lodge will take you back to the Africa of the 1920's

Accommodation:

One can easily imagine Stanley or Livingstone themselves just leaving the place… From every room at Stanley Safari Lodge, you can see the distant views of the spray of the Victoria Falls. Set on a hill overlooking unspoilt bush, only 3 km birds view from the river and the Victoria Falls, Stanley is a perfect base from which to explore the delights of the area – from river rafting and bungee jumping to sunset cruises, elephant back rides or walking with lions.

You can dine outdoors under the stars, in the privacy of your suite, in the wine cellar or even in the infinity pool. The African style and furnishings of the lodge reflect the textures and patterns of Africa, and your hosts will do their best to make your stay a memorable one.

Quiet and intimate, Stanley Safari Lodge will tailor your stay to suit you. The open-sided Main House has been designed with space and views in mind. Enjoy sundowners in the African style lounge, European-style cuisine with an African twist in the dining room or spend some quiet time in the library or upper deck discovering the secrets of Africa. This half open house has a truly African feel, while the colonial closed suites with private plunge pool evoke the elegant era of Stanley and Livingstone. However, at Stanley Safari Lodge most rooms are half open, which enables you to absorb the sights and sounds of the African bush fully.

Facilities:

The open-sided design affords a unique view across the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park to the mighty Zambezi River and the Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders Of The World. The main house provides the setting for our French style cuisine, alternatively dine under the stars on the lawn or in the privacy of your own cottage, whilst enjoying the personal service of our Zambian staff, all with an in-depth knowledge of Livingstone and its environs.

Spend your days enjoying the Victoria Falls area, or by the pool, spotting elephants at the nearby watering hole. Evenings can be spent sampling wine from our cellars or unwinding by the hearth, with the matchless African skies providing an unforgettable backdrop.

Activities:

The Victoria falls is one of the seven "Wonders of the World" and is arguably the greatest waterfall anywhere. Daily excursions to the Falls are a highlight and boating trips to the Zambezi River's islands provide wonderful activities.

Game drives into the Mosi-oa-Tunya Park are productive with an abundance of general game species like buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and impala. There is rich birdlife here too, including several sought-after species such as African Finfoot, Half-collared Kingfisher, African Skimmer (seasonal), Schalow's Turaco and Rock Pratincole (seasonal).

For bird enthusiasts there are leisurely strolls from camp, boat cruises and island walks. The Zambezi River offers ample fishing opportunities and tiger fishing is an unforgettable challenge for keen fishermen, particularly during the warmer months. There are several varieties of bream (Tilapia) that are also a good catch. For the more sporting, try catching them on fly...
