Herds of Buffalo and Elephant occur here, along with the predators - Lion, Leopard, Wild Dog and Cheetah. Guests who enjoy their birding will love the combination of all the Okavango water "specials" as well as acacia and mopane species in the dry woodlands. Accommodation reserved for 3 nights including all meals, park fees, activities and drinks (except premium imports).

Jao Camp with Wilderness Safaris - www.africansafaris.travel

Days 4, 5 and 6:

Scheduled light air transfer from Jao to Mombo / Little Mombo Camp. Accommodation reserved for 3 nights including all meals, park fees, activities and drinks (except premium imports).

The design of the new Mombo is radically different from the old Mombo while still retaining its tented charm. The camp has a total of 12 identical guest rooms divided into two distinct and independent camps. Mombo has 9 rooms and Little Mombo has 3 rooms. Each tented room is raised off the ground offering great views over the floodplains. The new rooms have a tented camp feel, but are luxuriously appointed. The bathrooms are en suite, including an indoor shower with hot and cold running water. There is also an outdoor shower. The main living area is under thatch and canvas. There are pools at both camps. We will have raised walkways to link bedrooms and the living area. Mombo Camp & Little Mombo have a "kgotla" or boma for outdoor dining under the stars.

Activities at Mombo Camp include morning and afternoon game drives. Open 4x4s provide an exquisite vantage for viewing the high concentrations of plains game and all the predators - including the big cats. Lion sightings are frequent.

Guests at Mombo Camp can also expect to see leopard, wild dog, spotted hyena, large herds of buffalo, elephant, white rhino, southern giraffe, blue wildebeest and Burchell's zebra. Black and white rhino have been reintroduced to the region with outstanding success (albeit most are further away from Mombo Camp), thanks to the Botswana Rhino Reintroduction Programme.

Kings Pool Camp with Wilderness Safaris - www.africansafaris.travel

Days 7, 8 and 9

(The Linyanti or Savuti) Scheduled light air transfer from Mombo / Little Mombo to Kings Pool Camp. Accommodation reserved for 3 nights including all meals, park fees, activities and drinks (except premium imports). Each of the new bedrooms has its own large bedroom area, lounge, private plunge pool and sala. Each en suite bathroom has a shower, hand basin and a separate flush toilet. There is an outdoor shower too for those who prefer to be closer to Africa. Each room is built on a raised deck with wonderful views onto the Kings Pool Lagoon and its wildlife.

The tents have been designed to ensure that each guest is totally comfortable and private, while at the same time offering all the atmosphere of a tent camp in Africa. Each bathroom is tiled and has a shower, toilet and hand basin. There are outside showers, too. The area has a large wildlife resource with a wide variety of species, but it is most noted for its very large Elephant populations, which can reach enormous densities during our winter months. There are good populations of Impala, Lechwe, Kudu, Zebra, Giraffe, Sable, Waterbuck, Buffalo and the smaller plains antelope. The major predators such as Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild Dog and Hyena are regularly sighted. The reed and papyrus swamps are ideal for numerous and diverse species of birds and are a magnet for game in the dry winter months.

Kings Pool Camp with Wilderness Safaris - www.africansafaris.travel

Days 10 and 11 (Victoria Falls)

Scheduled light air transfer from Kings Pool to Kasane Airport , and connect with a scheduled light air transfer form Kasane to Livingstone Airport. The River Club is situated on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River, 18 kilometers upstream from Victoria Falls. It faces westward into the sunset and onto the Zambezi National Park on the opposite side of the river.

The River Club is set among the lush riverine vegetation and the camp has a distinct Edwardian flavor. Guests here can enjoy the sights and sounds of Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River in a peaceful and tranquil setting away from the crowds. Although The River Club is not a game lodge, the Zambezi National Park is located just across the river, and Lion calls can often be heard at night. Rich birdlife is found in the area. Hippo are regularly sighted (and heard) along the river's edge. Fishing is good, with Tiger fishing featuring prominently in the warmer months. Birding in and around the lodge is superb.
