Botswana Highlights with Ker Downey (9 Days)

 
Your Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1 & 2 – Dinaka (Central Kalahari)

On arrival into Maun airport, a Ker & Downey Botswana representative holding a signboard with your name will meet and welcome you. After collecting your luggage, you will be escorted to the light charter aircraft to meet your pilot for a flight to the camp’s airstrip where on arrival you will be met by your guide who will transfer you on an open safari vehicle to camp.

Dinaka

Situated alongside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the focus of activities at Dinaka is exploring the Kalahari experience with wildlife ranging from giraffe to the antelope, small mammals like the honey badger, bat eared fox and porcupine to predators including the Kalahari lion, cheetah, leopard and brown hyena. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with afternoon game drives often continuing into the evening. Our window seat guarantee ensures no more than four guests per vehicle when out on game drives. Alternatively, you may get more up close and personal with nature on foot with guided bush walks. Birding is particularly spectacular as Dinaka hosts over 200 different bird species including the Kori Bustard and Crimson Breasted Shrike and a high concentration of Pale Chanting Goshawks.

Day 3 & 4 – Shinde (Okavango Delta)

After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) is transfer back to the airstrip to board the light aircraft and enjoy a scenic flight where you will witness the Kalahari Desert transform into the Okavango Delta right before your eyes! On arrival you will be met at the Shinde Airstrip by your guide and from there it is a short road transfer to Camp

Shinde

Nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, Shinde is an intimate, classic camp located on the edge of Shinde Lagoon, which simply teems with animal and birdlife. The camps unique main area comprises a multi-tiered dining room and lounge which is set under canvas under the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees.


Courtesy of its location Shinde can offer both water and land activities year-round. Motorboats or Mokoro provide a chance to experience the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta. Game drives are conducted by a personal guide in comfortable,
specially designed game drive vehicles. For the more adventurous, guided walks are also available while fishing enthusiasts will enjoy fishing for a variety of species such as tilapia and tigerfish.

Day 5 & 6 – Linyanti Ebony (Linyanti Marsh – Chobe Enclave)

After breakfast you will leave for the airstrip to board the light aircraft and enjoy a scenic flight across Northern Botswana to Linyanti Ebony. On arrival, you will be met at the Saile Airstrip by your guide and from there it is a short game drive to Camp.

Linyanti Ebony

Linyanti Ebony is an intimate camp situated on the banks of Linyanti Marsh in a private reserve which borders the western boundary of Chobe in the Chobe Enclave. The marshes are the only water source for miles around and attract water-adapted and desert-adapted wildlife, plus large numbers of birds.
Linyanti Ebony offers a diverse range of land and water activities (Water levels permitting) Motorboats and Mokoro provide a chance to experience the incredible numbers of bird, plant and reptile species found in the Linyanti Marsh.

Game drives are conducted in comfortable, specially-designed open safari vehicles. In addition, night drives are offered on the private concession. Guided walks are available with a highly experienced professional guide. Fishing is also offered with the tilapia being the most popular catch. A 30-minute Helicopter flight is included as one activity per stay for guests staying at Linyanti Bush Camp and Linyanti Ebony from 1st April – 30th November 2018.

Day 7 & 8 – Tongabezi, Victoria Falls (Livingstone)

After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) you will be transferred to the Saile airstrip for your quick flight to Kasane where you will be transferred by road to Tongabezi, Livingstone.

Tongabezi

Tongabezi is a romantic hideaway on the banks of the Zambezi River just upstream of Victoria Falls. The friendly team welcomes guests to a selection of houses and cottages, each beautifully styled with furniture and embellishments from all over Africa. Guests can dine beside the river or on their private terrace. Privately owned and run, Tongabezi combines an exclusive ambience with the legendary warmth and hospitality of the people of Zambia.


At Tongabezi all meals, selected drinks, laundry service & selected activities are included During your stay your will enjoy a range of activities including game drives in the Mosi-O-Tunya National Park, sunrise and sunset boat cruises on the Zambezi, canoeing excursions, guided walks on the Zambezi islands, fishing and a visit to Victoria Falls. Transfers into Livingstone are included where you can visit thecurio markets, local villages and museum at your leisure. There are additional activities at extra cost which include: white water raftering, bungee jumping, micro light and helicopter rides over the Falls, and horse riding and golf at the Zimbabwean Elephant Hills golf course.

Day 9 - Departure

After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) you will transfer by road to Livingstone Airport for your onward flight.

Road transfers as indicated on the itinerary
